Leslie and Kel love Solano Winds!

Kel singing with the Jazz Ensemble for the Rio Vista Trinity Senior Community Christmas party

We play in Solano Winds because the community of musicians inspires us to play our best.  We joined just before Covid started and we managed to record music during the lock down for the community. Later we gave outdoor concerts to keep up our own spirits along with our audiences. We really enjoy performing concerts with this diverse group of great musicians!

Now in our 32nd season, we are growing in numbers - 70 musicians registered to play with us this year. Plus we are welcoming our new conductor, Dr. Sixto R. Montesinos, Jr.! Sixto was one of 6 people who applied for this position and we are thrilled to have him leading us musically.

Solano Winds has been sharing high quality wind band repertoire for 31 years! We perform concerts at theaters in Fairfield and Vacaville, as well as in retirement communities, in public libraries and schools, and for special events. Our full band and small ensembles include musicians from high school students to retirees, from military personnel to school teachers.

In addition to performing concerts, we give tickets to local public school band students to inspire them to continue playing music. Some of these students even join our band when they reach high school! The Solano Winds Scholarship Fund supports graduating high school students who want to pursue a career in music. Since 2005, Solano Winds has awarded scholarships to 18 students.

Leslie sometimes plays in the percussion section too!

You can support the continued musical excellence of Solano Winds by donating through Live Solano, Give Solano now through October 7! Your contributions will provide student tickets and scholarships, purchase new music, repair and renew our instruments, and support theater space and instrument transportation for Solano Winds performances in the community.

Thank you for supporting Solano Winds, the first and only community concert band in Solano County!
