A Young Musician’s Dream Takes the Stage

Every young musician dreams of a moment when all their hard work, dedication, and love of music comes together on one big stage. For some, that moment could start here, with the Solano Symphony Orchestra.

Our Goal: Raise $5,000 for Salute to Youth

Every year, the Solano Symphony Orchestra creates a special opportunity for young musicians in our community to step onto the stage, share their talent, and perform alongside professional musicians.

This year, we're asking our community to help us raise $5,000 to support Salute to Youth.

Salute to Youth

A tradition of celebrating young musical talent. For years, Salute to Youth has provided young musicians in our community with an opportunity to perform, be recognized, and experience the excitement of performing with an orchestra.

Our Young Artists Competition (YAC) is open to Solano and Yolo County residents ages 12–21 and includes four categories: Vocal, Piano, String, and Wind Instruments.

Young musicians compete for the opportunity to be selected as Young Artists and perform as soloists with the Solano Symphony Orchestra.

The program also includes our Side-by-Side Youth Performance, bringing selected high school musicians from Solano and Yolo Counties together with members of the Solano Symphony Orchestra.

Students perform alongside professional musicians and experience the preparation, collaboration, and teamwork involved in an orchestral performance.

When: March 21, 2027

Our next Salute to Youth concert will take place on Sunday, March 21, 2027.

Why This Program Matters

Salute to Youth is an investment in young people and in our community.

For participating students, the program provides opportunities to:

• Perform in a professional orchestra setting
• Share their musical talent with a live audience
• Learn through collaboration with experienced professional musicians
• Gain performance experience through the Young Artists Competition and Side-by-Side program
• Be recognized and celebrated for their musical dedication and achievement
• Connect with other young musicians, educators, families, and members of the Symphony

When we create opportunities for young musicians, we strengthen the connections between our schools, music educators, families, professional musicians, and community.

Help Us Raise $5,000

Salute to Youth happens because our community believes that young musicians deserve opportunities to perform, participate, and be celebrated.

• You are supporting young people who have dedicated time and effort to developing their musical abilities.
• You are supporting opportunities for students to perform alongside professional musicians.
• You are supporting connections between young musicians, educators, families, and the broader community.
• And you are helping sustain a program that has become an important part of the Solano Symphony Orchestra's commitment to the next generation.

Every contribution helps us keep this tradition alive and create meaningful opportunities for young musicians to perform, learn, and be celebrated in our community.
