I'm fundraising for Herd & Flock Animal Sanctuary in Vacaville, California — a 60-acre sanctuary that has rescued over 1,100 animals since 2019. These are animals who were headed to slaughter or victims of cruelty and now have names, friendships, and a place to live out their lives in peace.
Herd & Flock opens its doors to volunteers, visitors, and students — using every interaction to spark compassion and open hearts to a kinder way of treating animals. Through humane education and advocacy, the sanctuary is also working to address the harms of industrial agriculture on behalf of all animals.
October 7 is Live Solano Give Solano Day, and this year I'm raising funds for the sanctuary's Raise the Roof for the Blue Barn campaign. The Blue Barn is home to four pigs -- Olivia, Diego, Tom, and Luther -- and Rico the rooster and his flock of ten hens. The barn's two awnings shelter steers Finn and Rocky and 13 goats, including two families.
Funds raised will go toward replacing the barn's aging roof and feed and bedding to keep every animal warm through the very wet El Niño winter predicted this year.
Early giving begins September 23. Every dollar given through my page will be matched. Please consider a gift of any size — 100% of contributions go directly to the care and comfort of the animals.
