Senior Home Delivery: Food to Their Door

At Incredible Blessings 4 U, Inc., we believe a senior's access to food should not depend on whether they are able to travel to a food distribution.

For many older adults, getting to a food pantry or community distribution can be difficult. Limited mobility, disability, lack of transportation, and other circumstances can create barriers that make it hard to shop for groceries or participate in a regular food distribution.

When getting to the food is the barrier, we believe the answer is simple: bring the food to them.

Our Senior Home Delivery Program was created to help homebound seniors and individuals who have difficulty traveling to a distribution site. Members of our team already make door-to-door deliveries, bringing food directly to the homes of neighbors who may otherwise have limited access to groceries.

These deliveries are more than a bag of food.

They are a reminder that someone cares.

They provide relief to a senior who may be worried about where their next meal will come from. They help reduce the stress of having to find transportation. They help make it possible for someone who cannot easily leave home to receive food with dignity.

And they allow us to build relationships with the seniors we serve.

Now We Need Your Help to Reach More Seniors

Our biggest challenge in expanding this program is transportation capacity.

Incredible Blessings 4 U, Inc. needs an additional delivery van to increase our ability to make home deliveries and serve more homebound seniors.

One van can only go so far.

With another vehicle, we can increase the number of delivery trips we are able to make, expand our reach, respond to additional requests for assistance, and create greater flexibility in how we schedule and organize deliveries.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 toward an additional delivery van.

Transportation Means Access

For a homebound senior, transportation is more than getting from one place to another.

Transportation means access.

It means a volunteer can bring groceries to the front door.

It means someone with limited mobility can still receive food.

It means we can reach more people who might otherwise be left out.

That is why expanding our transportation capacity is such an important part of the future of our Senior Home Delivery Program.

Meeting Dietary Needs

We also want to improve the food choices available to seniors who have dietary restrictions or specific food needs.

As we expand home delivery, additional funding will help us increase our ability to provide food that better fits individual circumstances. Our goal is not simply to deliver food, but to provide food that is useful and appropriate for the people receiving it.

Every senior deserves to be treated as an individual, with their needs and preferences respected.
