The Arc-Solano

The mission of The Arc-Solano is to promote the greatest personal growth, community understanding, and full participation of people with developmental disabilities and their families through support, education, and advocacy. 

Since 1953, The Arc-Solano has empowered Solano County residents with developmental disabilities to live self-determined lives. We offer three core programs, each tailored to help individuals reach their highest potential and live as independently as possible in the community.

Our Core Programs:

• Transitional Services (TS): Our instructors provide hands-on assessment and training to help adults live independently. Curriculum focuses on essential life skills, including financial, home, and health management.
• Alternatives in Curriculum & Training (ACT): A full-time, site-based day program with a behavioral emphasis. For over 35 years, ACT has provided a structured learning environment that encourages personal choice, accountability, and wise decision-making.
• Tailored Day Service (TDS): A highly individualized, community-based day program. It is exactly as the name implies—tailored to the specific goals, needs, and passions of the individual, with a strong focus on volunteerism, employment skills, and higher learning. 

Beyond our Core Programs: we offer specialized services, called Value-Added programs, designed to enhance creative expression and community connection.

• Art@Arc: This is the creative arts program of The Arc-Solano. Established in 1995, this program provides consumers with a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental atmosphere in which to explore their creative voices. The freedom to create and the freedom to make individual choices are the cornerstones that provide our consumers with the opportunity to gain recognition and increase self-esteem.
• Literacy: The ability to read makes a person independent. Without it, you can't sort your mail, figure out your bills, send a birthday card, a thank you note, or a complaint letter. This program is open to all of our participants who have less than a 5th-grade reading level.
