Special Care Angels

Special Care Angels was born from a powerful conversation between two passionate women, Debbi Davis and Angel Hixson, who saw firsthand the frustrating gaps in services for individuals with special needs. They shared stories of families waiting months—sometimes years—for essential resources, only to discover that critical items like adaptive equipment, camp experiences, specialized training, and basic supplies weren’t covered by insurance, the educational system, or state programs. Driven by compassion and a fierce determination to make a difference, Debbi, Angel, and Dawn La Bar founded Special Care Angels to fill those voids. Their mission: to provide scholarships and support for the things that truly elevate quality of life but are too often overlooked. Every dollar raised helps bridge the gap and brings hope, dignity, and joy to those who need it most.

The Mission of Special Care Angels is to support our most vulnerable communities, such as children and adults with disabilities, complex medical conditions, mental health issues, disparities in social and economic factors and social determinants of health, through education, linkage to local resources and services, and advocacy with health and social services programs. The Mission is broad in order to be inclusive of other vulnerable populations and individuals that need assistance to live their best lives.

CLUB CHAOS

Founded in 2015 by Debbi Davis and Angel Hixson, Club Chaos is a summer recreational program for children with autism and other developmental disabilities, which allows them to fully participate in an inclusive “summer day camp” type experience with one-on-one trained staff support. Club Chaos continues to expand each year as more and more families become aware of this amazing program tailored exclusively for our special needs kids. Thus, funding and volunteers are always in demand.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND SPONSORSHIPS

Special Care Angels offers Scholarship and Sponsorship opportunities for programs or education related to special needs and vulnerable populations, such as Club Chaos, specialized training opportunities, and passes to our annual Developmental Disability and Neurodiversity Conference, to name a few.

ANNUAL DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY & NEURODIVERSITY CONFERENCE

Special Care Angels proudly sponsors the Special Care Services Annual Developmental Disability and Neurodiversity Conference, promoting awareness, acceptance, and empowerment for individuals with developmental disabilities and neurodiverse conditions. The first conference was held in 2023 in Suisun City, California, and continues to expand its speaker base, vendor connection expo, and participation each year.
