October is for the Kids — Help Put a Child on the Land

In the month of October, we shine a spotlight on one of our most meaningful efforts: the Put a Child on the Land program.

We all know how powerful it is for a child to be outside—breathing fresh air, running freely, and discovering the magic of nature. Whether it’s hiking a trail or peeking under leaves for frogs and bugs, the outdoors is the best classroom and the greatest playground.

That’s why our long-running Marshes Matter field trip program brings thousands of Solano County elementary students to Rush Ranch, where they explore the Suisun Marsh—home to cows, horses, birds, fish, and untold natural wonders. For many students, this is their very first time seeing these animals or stepping foot into such a wild and beautiful landscape.

There is always a waitlist of teachers eager to share this experience with their students. And thanks to donor support, we’re able to provide free bus transportation, program supplies, and outdoor learning materials—removing cost barriers so that every child has the chance to connect with the land.

💚 The smiles are unforgettable. The lessons are lasting. The impact is real.

But we can’t do it without you.

Your gift this October will help us serve more students, reach more schools, and build a stronger connection between kids and the land we all cherish. Whether it’s $10, $25, or $100—every dollar helps put a child on the land.

Let’s give the next generation a reason to love and protect this place.
