Organization Overview:

Solano County Friends of Animals is a dedicated nonprofit rescue organization committed to improving the lives of cats and kittens in our community. We provide compassionate, comprehensive care for animals in need, from rescue and rehabilitation to adoption and long-term health support. Our work is driven by the belief that every cat deserves a chance at a healthy, safe, and loving life.

Adoption Program Services:

Our adoption program provides essential medical and preventative care for every cat and kitten we rescue. These basic services include: Spay/neuter surgery, rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, FELV/FIV testing, microchipping, flea treatment/prevention and deworming treatment. Many cats come into our care suffering from significant health issues, such as upper respiratory infections, eye infections, parasites, and other medical conditions. These cases require additional veterinary diagnostics, treatment, and sometimes surgery. The cost of medical care is our organization’s largest and most critical expense. Your support helps us continue to provide both the standard and advanced medical care necessary to prepare these animals for adoption into loving homes.

Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program:

Our TNR program focuses on the humane management of feral and free-roaming cat populations.

Each cat in our TNR program receives: Spay/neuter surgery, rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, and flea and deworming treatment. We also provide medical care for treatable ailments such as mange, wound treatment, upper respiratory infections, and entropion (eyelid deformities). Through TNR, we reduce the stray cat population, improve the health of outdoor colonies, and prevent the birth of unwanted litters.

Community Assistance Program:

We extend our services to support community members who care for stray or owned cats but lack the financial means to provide proper medical care. Through this program, we offer: Low-cost or subsidized spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations (rabies and FVRCP), flea and deworming treatments, medical assistance for injuries or illnesses affecting cats and kittens. This outreach helps reduce the burden on shelters, prevent neglect or abandonment, and build a healthier environment for both animals and humans.

Funding Needs: Our greatest financial challenge remains the cost of veterinary care. From basic services like vaccinations and sterilizations to complex procedures for injured or ill cats, we rely heavily on donations and grants to meet the growing medical demands of the animals and communities we serve. With your support, we can continue to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome hundreds of cats each year, while also making a meaningful difference in the community through our TNR and assistance programs.

Conclusion: We respectfully request your support to help fund our adoption services, TNR efforts, and community assistance program. Your contribution directly impacts the lives of vulnerable cats and the families who care for them. Together, we can build a more humane future for all.
