Molly’s Angels: Changing Lives, One Call at a Time in Solano County 

In Solano County, where more than 1 in 5 residents is over age 60, many older adults are aging in place—quietly, and alone.  Molly’s Angels is changing that. 

Since 1999, this trusted nonprofit has provided transportation, companionship, and care to seniors in Napa County. In 2024, we expanded into Solano County to meet a growing need: reducing loneliness and restoring dignity for isolated older adults.  

At the heart of our work is the Molly Cares Friendly Calling Program, which pairs volunteers with seniors for weekly 30-minute phone calls. These conversations aren’t scripted—they’re spontaneous, joyful, and deeply human. For many, it’s the only voice they hear all week.  

“It helps fill a lot of lonely, long days,” says Norma, a current participant. “I always feel uplifted by the end,” adds Jenn.  

These calls change lives. They ease loneliness, improve mental health, and create a meaningful sense of connection. And volunteers benefit too.  

“The delight of delivering a joyful, weekly ‘hello’ to a client is one of the simplest vehicles I have ever known to actually make a small difference in this world,” shares Vacaville volunteer Jo Anne Bucsko.

Now, with your help, we’re working to scale this impact across Solano County, beginning with the Live Solano Give Solano campaign.  

Your donation will help us: 

• Enroll more seniors into the Molly Cares program
• Recruit and train local volunteers
• Provide oversight and support to foster lasting connections
• Build partnerships with community-based agencies
• Expand current door-to-door paratransit services, so seniors can access vital medical appointments. (Each paratransit ride, provided through our third-party partner may cost upwards of $200 each way.)  Transportation is more than logistics—it’s liberation. By bringing our successful Napa-based paratransit program to Solano, we’ll ensure that even non-ambulatory older adults can remain active, independent, and engaged.

The Live Solano Give Solano campaign plays a critical role in building our base of private funding—ensuring we can continue to grow and serve more seniors throughout Solano County.
