End 68 Hours of Hunger - Solano

It is difficult to understand or comprehend how there can be so many hungry kids in Solano County.  We are surrounded by wealth and privilege, yet there are still children who experience hunger every day.  End 68 Hours of Hunger was founded to help alleviate this situation.  LEARN MORE AT: www.end68hoursofhunger.org/find-your-community/california/vacaville/

Our unique solution to childhood hunger is to provide a bag of food on Friday, for the weekend, for food insecure elementary school children. It bridges the gap between school meals on Friday and school meals on Monday.  All the food is non-perishable and there is food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.   Bags often include granola bars, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna or chicken, canned soup, ramen, canned chili, and instant oatmeal.  

We are a local chapter of a national organization, End 68 Hours of Hunger, and the only chapter in California.  We are a 100% volunteer organization and 95% of our funds go to buying food for needy school children.  End 68 Hours of Hunger – Vacaville/Fairfield chapter, packs and distributes 400 bags of food each week. In the 2024-2025 school years bags of food were provided to schools in Fairfield,  Vacaville, and Dixon.  Over 12,000 bags of food were given to school children last school year.  With generous donations from the community, the Board of Directors, plans to do even more in the 2025-2026 school year.
