$750,000 Goal

Keeping Music Alive in Solano County Classrooms

The Donald and Rose Marie Wong Endowment Fund was created to ensure that every child in Solano County has the chance to experience the joy of making music.  Today, the Fund provides mini-grants for music teachers to purchase instruments, sheet music, and uniforms, enabling students to learn, perform, and thrive.

Our vision doesn’t stop there.  With your support, we can grow this Fund to create a Music Lending Library for Solano County; providing instruments, sheet music, and band uniforms that students and schools can borrow year after year.  No student should be left out of band, orchestra, or choir because of cost.

Why a $750,000 goal?

Reaching this goal will allow us to:

  • Establish a countywide lending library of instruments, uniforms, and music for teachers and students.
  • Maintain and expand mini-grants so teachers can continue to innovate and grow their music programs.
  • Provide long-term sustainability through investment income, ensuring that Solano County music programs are supported for generations to come.

A Legacy of Music and Community

In 2011, Donald and Rose Marie Wong of Vacaville established this permanent endowment fund with the Solano Community Foundation to support music teachers and their students for generations to come.

“We are most interested in helping music teachers and their students. We want them to have the equipment and materials to do their best.”
– Rose Marie Wong

Rose Marie passed away in 2016, but her vision lives on through the Fund.  Donald and Rose Marie’s passion for music is now an invitation to the community: help us build a future where music education thrives in every school.

Mini-Grants for Teachers (Current Program)

Small grants of up to $1,000 are awarded annually to Solano County music teachers to support program needs such as:

  • Musical instruments and repairs

  • Sheet music

  • Uniforms and performance accessories

  • Other classroom or performance costs directly tied to music practice

Looking Ahead

The dream of a Music Lending Library will make Solano County a leader in equitable music education.  By pooling resources, schools will have access to the tools they need, and students will never be excluded from the life-changing experience of learning and performing music.

Help us reach $750,000 to make this dream a reality; $500,000 grants shared naming of the library.   Can you imagine?  "The Wong and (your name here) Music Library" for Solano County!

Together, we can keep music alive throughout Solano County.
