Every child in Solano County deserves to grow up safe, loved, and nurtured, but far too many face the devastating reality of abuse. Children’s Network is here to change that.

In 2024, Solano County had over 5,266 reports of child abuse.

Many of these reports are made by teachers, doctors, and other community members who are legally required to report suspected abuse. This means that while not all reports are confirmed as actual abuse, they still trigger investigations that can be stressful for families. And even a handful of confirmed instances of child abuse is too many.

That’s why we work to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to reduce unnecessary reports by training professionals and community members through our Mandated Reporter to Community Supporter (MRCS) Trainings. We are working to ensure that families are not investigated for situations that are not abuse, while also keeping children who are at risk safe and protected. With your support, we can protect children, support families, and build safer communities.

How we made a difference in 2024:

  • Parent Cafés: We co-hosted 49 gatherings (FSUSD hosted over 70 total) reaching 767 caregivers, helping parents build resilience, strengthen parenting skills, and create nurturing homes.
  • Child Abuse Prevention Trainings: 27 sessions reached 415 community members, equipping neighbors, teachers, and professionals to recognize and respond to abuse, keeping more children safe.
  • Education & Resources: Nearly 19,000 prevention materials and 450 Community Resource Guides were shared, empowering families and the public to prevent abuse and access vital support.
  • Child Abuse Prevention Council: Convened 10 meetings with 20 community organizations to coordinate efforts, share strategies, and strengthen support systems for families.
  • Community Events: Hosted and attended 6 prevention events with 975 attendees, raising awareness and promoting engagement in child safety initiatives.

Strengthening families across Solano County:

  • Family Resource Centers provide parenting education, counseling, and access to essential services. By reducing isolation and stress, they strengthen families—the key to preventing abuse.
  • SparkPoint Solano helps parents achieve financial stability, housing security, and access to critical resources. These supports reduce stress and empower parents to protect their children.
  • Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is a 20-week civic engagement program that empowers parents to advocate for children, strengthen leadership skills, and create safer communities.
