Our mission is to improve the health of children, families and seniors by providing access to care through health insurance enrollment, patient education and advocacy.
Everyone deserves access to quality healthcare—regardless of their income, language, age, or circumstances. Yet for thousands of Solano County residents, navigating the healthcare system can be overwhelming and filled with barriers. That barrier just got higher. Since January 1, 2026, California has paused new Medi-Cal enrollment for many adults, and starting October 1, 2026, federal changes will narrow eligibility for certain non-citizens and phase in new work requirements through 2027–2028. For many families, this isn't a routine renewal—it's a closing window, and if coverage lapses under the new rules, getting back in may not be possible.
Community Health Initiative removes obstacles to care for nearly 9,000 of Solano County's most vulnerable children, families, and older adults each year—and right now, that work is more time-sensitive than ever.
Our bilingual team of Medi-Cal, Covered California, and Medicare experts helps low- and moderate-income residents obtain and maintain health coverage by guiding them through complex enrollment and renewal processes, submitting required documentation, and resolving issues before they result in delayed care or lost coverage.
Our work extends far beyond enrollment. We connect individuals and families to primary care providers, ensure access to in-network services, and link clients to critical behavioral health resources. When language barriers, technology challenges, or complicated systems stand in the way, we step in to schedule appointments, coordinate transportation, and advocate on our clients' behalf.
We also equip clients with the knowledge to navigate healthcare independently—understanding plan benefits, using online portals, and accessing community resources.
Every day, we turn confusion into confidence, barriers into access, and uncertainty into better health outcomes. But the timeline has changed. With new eligibility rules already taking effect and more on the way, families who don't act before their renewal window closes risk losing coverage they may not be able to get back. Your support helps us reach them first.
