Since 1960, Soroptimist International of Vacaville has been working to create a better future for women and girls in our community. As part of a global volunteer organization, we empower women and girls by providing access to education, training and opportunities that can change the course of their lives.

Every year, our members raise funds to provide grants, scholarships, mentoring and other programs that help women overcome barriers and build more secure futures for themselves and their families.

Your support through Live Solano, Give Solano will help us reach even more women and girls when they need it most.

Goal

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support two programs making a direct difference in the lives of women in our community: Women In Need and Live Your Dream.

Women In Need — $5,000

Imagine having to leave a dangerous situation with little more than the clothes you are wearing.

In 2025, Soroptimist International of Vacaville launched Women In Need, in partnership with the Vacaville Police Department. The program provides emergency backpacks for young women escaping human trafficking, giving them immediate access to basic necessities—and a measure of comfort, dignity and hope at a frightening and uncertain time.

Each backpack contains essentials such as personal hygiene items, socks, sweatpants and sweatshirts in a range of sizes. Our goal is to keep at least 10 fully stocked backpacks available so law enforcement can provide one whenever the need arises.

We hope to raise $5,000 to keep these backpacks stocked and ready for women who may need it at a moment's notice. 

Live Your Dream Awards — $5,000

Sometimes a relatively small amount of financial assistance can help a woman take a very big step toward a better future.

Live Your Dream is Soroptimist International’s signature program, providing financial grants to women who are pursuing education or career training while serving as the primary financial support for their families.

In 2026, Soroptimist International of Vacaville awarded more than $10,000 to 10 local women. Many of these women are raising young children, and some are also caring for aging parents, while pursuing the education or training they need to build greater financial security.

The grants can help with expenses such as tuition, books, transportation, childcare and other costs that can make continuing an education difficult.

With another $5,000, we hope to provide grants to at least five additional women in 2027.

When a woman has the opportunity to further her education, the impact extends well beyond one individual. She can increase her earning potential, provide greater stability for her family and become a powerful example for her children.
